Broadsheet: Party Boat Seadeck Is Cruising Back Into Sydney Harbour, With Multiple Bars and Top DJs
After two years, the three-level party palace is back. Yolanda Be Cool are already lined up for a series of residencies, plus there’s an à la carte menu of prawn tacos and buttermilk fried chicken, and good-times cocktails.
Floating Sydney party venue Seadeck is back after a sleek refit for another summer season. The boat, which has capacity for up to 400 people, will set sail for the first time in two years on October 29, this time with a new custom-built three-level deck inspired by the Med coast.
Every Saturday and Sunday the boat will ply Sydney Harbour with some of the country’s best DJs on the decks (as well as some international guests). Aussie club legends Yolanda Be Cool will curate party experience House of Yyes, bringing along a host of DJ pals for a bunch of Saturday parties. And the likes of KLP, Mousse T and Weiss will be headlining Sunday sessions throughout summer.
Guests can move between the three decks, which have been refurbished by Alex Zabotto-Bentley from AZB Creative (Glass Island, The Cumberland), who was inspired by the artisans and handcrafted objects he found during a recent trip to the Mediterranean coast. Filled with lush greenery, the main deck boasts a fully stocked bar, as well as a retractable awning that’ll shield partygoers from the La Nina wet. Head up a grand staircase to the middle deck, which also has a full-service bar. And finally, on level three, you’ll find 360-degree harbour views. Guests with cash to drop can book VIP tables with full bottle service and waitstaff.
A share-style menu by Simon Ekas Catering offers dishes that are both boat- and party-friendly: dry-aged Wagyu burgers, grilled-prawn tacos, buttermilk fried chicken and spicy calamari with a sriracha aioli.
To drink, there’s a series of fun and fruity cocktails by bartender Robbie Stowe. The Below Deck is made with vodka, peach liqueur, passionfruit puree and pineapple juice, while the High Seas Gin Sour is a zingy concoction of Aperol, watermelon syrup, and pineapple and lemon juices.
Seadeck cruises from 6.30pm–10.30pm on Fridays; 1pm–5pm and 7pm–11pm on Saturdays; and 1pm–5pm on Sundays. The boat is available for private hire Monday to Friday.
